Sedan vs. Spaceship

(download)

Yes, you read that correctly. As part of Milan Design Week 2011, avant garde French designer Ora-Ïto presented the worldwide debut of his hybrid Citroën sculpture - part family sedan, part spaceship. The artist is said to have "not dreaming about another concept car but a genetic transformation to spread an universal message to the car industry through his artistic vision and new directions never investigated before." The latter, you've definitely got to give him!

We remain unsure whether this is the prerequisite advances in technical innovation (as one would typically anticipate) or simply high caliber contemporary art but the world would definitely be a much more fun place if we could zip to Tesco's like The Jetsons. Just sayin'...

Busty Balloon Babes

(download)

We're pouring over this insane editorial for Russian Tatler magazine to the point of obscenity: an off-the-hook accessories shoot with excess volumes of tongue-in-cheek humour.

Stylist David Widjaja and photographer, Bela Borsodi, have created a parallel fashion universe made from busty balloon models rockin' out badittude and oodles of bling! Seriously, how freakin' bad ass and irreverent... purely creative inspiration and testament to what thinking outside of the box can achieve. Features bling from one of our fave bling accessory houses, nOir Jewelry (you can read more about our obsession right here).

Blind Design... Genius

Braille Rubik’s Cube - product design by Konstantin Datz. From what we can understand (our German is appalling - sorry) this product will be on display from November 2011. The concept is that solving the cube is as difficult for sighted folks as the classic Rubik's cube is to solve for those without sight... Genius. Fucking genius.

Top 3 Handy Tips: Working with Web Developers

Dogfunk
Developer's are generally pretty reliable for two things: poor spelling and a twisted sense of humour (in our experience). Andrew, the finance whizz here at Neon HQ, emailed over the above screenshots of his inbox, check the first line... ooops! We lol'd for reals (obv) when this landed in our mailbox!

With that in mind, here are our Top 3 handy tips for working with web developers:

Tip 01: Check YOUR spelling before sending any content to your developer; most often developers will simply lift the text you have provided - it's your responsibility to provide accurate brand communication especially when customers will be involved not theirs.

Tip 02: Check THEIR spelling on any and every app, site or mailshot they create for you! You'd be surprised how many typos may slip through the net which could result in a questionable brand marketing experience for your customers.

Tip 03: Don't treat your web developer like your own personal IT support, that is NOT their job nor (most likely) part of the project's remit and will only serve to aggravate them, you may run risk of geek humour pay-backs in the form of "accidental" typing errors!

Take heed of this advice and you may avert an inappropriate albeit hilarious faux pas. For now, we'll leave it to you to determine whether you think it was just a genuine mistake or a disgruntled developer getting his (or her) own back!!!

Condoms of Distinction, lie back... and think of England!

Crown-jewels

It was only ever a matter of time... Crown Jewels, Condoms of Distinction. Purveyors of heritage love sheaths. We kid you not.

"To celebrate the engagement of Prince William of Wales to Ms. Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, Crown Jewels Condoms of Distinction has commissioned a unique heritage edition Royal Wedding Souvenir boîte de capotes. Combining the strength of a Prince with the yielding sensitivity of a Princess-to-be, Crown Jewels condoms promise a royal union of pleasure. Truly a King amongst Condoms."

So if you feel like commemorating the forthcoming nuptials in your own unique way, ahem, cough... figure the rest out yourself. Though take heed, these are novelty condoms and are not suitable for contraception nor protection against STDs. Helpful. Wonder how many princes and princesses will be accidentally conceived?! A Royal Pardon - if you like.

Buy yours here. Probably not the sort of commemorative item your nan will be purchasing but then again, if she's owt like Katie Waissel's grandmother... ugh.

My Little Pony, The Real Life Episodes (Web Comic)

(download)

It's good to know that even when My Little Pony grows up, life can sometimes be a little lacklustre - no nonsense talk, work politics or stuck in a thankless job... but this is what growing up is all all about, right? Actually scrap that, it's all about having unapologetic FUN! - and that's exactly what this crazy web comic is all about. It kinda sucks you in all the while you're wondering why the heck you've spent so long pondering the concept.

But hey, My Little Pony working a 9 to 5 on tech support and living in a house share DOES make compelling reading. This is the trippiest online soap opera with some flashbacks to childhood throw in for good measure.

Kimono's Townhouse, we salute you!

Celebrity Cheese People

(download)

This is so daft it's been making us chuckle for days now - seems even the celebs are pretty partial to the joys of cheese and the good folk over at Cheese People are a) inspired b) creative c) hilarious in their choice of celebs x cheese. Check out their tumblr for more of the good stuff!

Creeping into the New Year...

A little Halloween project the royal "we" (VonShape) finished over the holidays. Halloween IS every goth's Christmas so yah know, it kinda makes sense. Actually scrap that. Halloween is every goth's every day. Halloween is not just for Christmas.

NB: No kids were injured in the making of this film... so don't be preaching or hating on us. The kids art directed the entire film from concept to storyboard, we just got to stand back and watch their creativity in action... mildly disturbing. Filmmaking and editing down by our lil' mucker, VonShape (new blogfolio coming soon). Enjoy!

The Spirit of Christmas Eve: Flashbacks to Youth

Christmas Eve. The day (and night) heralds different meanings to many and we all celebrate in myriad ways...

Jodie Harsh, DJ and Drag Queen Extraordinaire, is known for pulling in some of London's leading fashion and music acts recently enlisted the talent of Gabriel Gettman to create a unique video to promote clubnight, Circus. As we sit here drinking and laughing and reminiscing on the days gone by, this chance encounter in the cyber galaxy reminds us of the days when Christmas Eve was THE night to party, a night we paid our respects to our faith (lack thereof?).

TBH, looking around the room at the bottles of suds and pile of presents still to be wrapped during our brief cameo as Santa's Little Helpers, it seems things have changed a lot physically in the last few years but mentally we're all still 20-something and watching this promo has thrown out some insane flashbacks to youthdom and many a tale is being regaled of big nights out in drag bars in London's East End and King's Cross, Sydney as we challenge each other tell a more ridiculous tale than the last with the only rule being it must be true (obvs extreme exaggerations are now getting carried away, mainly by the boys, worrinyingly)... is this the spirit of Christmas? Or the spirit of a misspent youth? Either way, it's one to celebrate and this video is off the hook!!!

One more sleep - or non-sleep if you're hardcore (or young) - and then it's Christmas. Here's to indulgence and all who party with her, may your night be merry!
